Early September 2018, we invited some friends over the Studio for some pizza, Nintendo, synthwave vibes and to spectate the painting of our first Retrowave inspired Mural in Miami.

Retrowave Vibes

As part of our merch project, Arkadia1981, we get to explore and have a ton of fun with the design work, apparel and accessories we make available. We recently even released a set of Miami GIFS featuring various Miami style animations including the retro sun.

After the success of having GIFS available on InstaStories, I wanted to take it a step further and paint the Retro Sun in an empty wall right outside the studio. I may be mistaken but I think it’s the first OutRun style street art mural in Miami, how cool is that?

The whole day was such a rad day. We had friends come by, pizza for snackables, Nintendo Classic / SNES and a boombox with our Neo Arkade synthwave playlist on the tunes.

The sun was made in Adobe Illustrator using some retro magic. Bought some paint from Home Depot; Midnight blue and Egyptian Sun yellow. The pinks were cans from Montana Gold.

Our friends came and I got some help from some special people: Adriana Maz, Pedro Tuma, Friks84; even my brother lended a hand.

I kept telling Karielys that it was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done and been a part of. Below are some of the photos of the day. Take a look! Hope you guys digg it.
