Today we went to the print shop to follow up on our tees after a few months. We had actually put in the order last October, but between Kary’s graduation, our engagement, life + work, the project took a bit of a back seat. We decided it was overdue and set some time aside to check the shirts, and approve the next batch.

The Printing Process

We know there is a lot more to apparel design than just creating a good looking tee. There are important steps to take, way before you even start thinking of creative. We’ll leave that for another day though.

It’s always exciting to see the first prints. You get see how the ink interacts with and feels on the fabric, that’s important to us. That’s why we make it a priority to be on press, especially when doing the first batch. Sometimes the artwork doesn’t print as well as you’d hope, so you would have to make changes on the fly, maybe change screen mesh or type of ink.

We approved the first set of shirts. We’re planning on releasing them slowly this Spring. So excited since we have a lot of ideas not only on apparel but other printed goods that we’d like to share with everyone.

We will continue to post updates and some neat behind-the-scenes stuff right here on the blog. In the mean time, you can follow our journey on Instagram as well, @arkadiareserve.co. We love to hear feedback so any comments and suggestions are welcome!

“Unlike Angel, I haven’t been to that many print shops, so seeing the mess of inks is always incredible + beautiful to me. Angel gets excited too! We’re kinda geeky.”
